The Challenge

In this website case study, we share how we helped The National Onion Association. The National Onion Association had a website that was old-fashioned and unorganized. Their logo of the Ninja Onion was lost in too much scenery. The site was not clearly communicating with the members of the association. It was not user-friendly to either type of website visitor: the consumer and the member. Also, the members needed easy access to the membership section, which also had to be reorganized. Not to mention there were over a thousand pages, many of which were not getting many page views. Their content management systems was very challenging to use. There was also an important deadline for launch: in time to unveil the new website at their annual convention with members.

The Strategy

We applied our organized and efficient step-by-step method of website project management. In the first meeting we had with the NOA’s great staff, we defined two target audiences and their top needs. Before each phase, we met with the staff to interview them and/or get their input. After listening and learning, we determined the calls-to-action and other necessary things that would make visitors stay and explore and members make better use of their membership section. We educated the NOA staff so they understood what was needed and why.

The Results

We made the deadline with two weeks to spare. Take a look at the before and after image. Now the NOA has a very attractive and modern website. They can easily manage the content themselves, including adding new pages to the site and navigation menu. Their site is securely managed so they don’t have to worry about updating plugins. And all the members’ feedback about the new website and reorganized member section as been positive, too.
